The Airport Waikiki Express provides shuttles to hotels in Waikiki. They charge $15 for a round trip. The buses around the city accept bills and coins of $2.25 for adults and $1 per senior citizen or child. Take the H-1 East route to reach the exit 18A which is Nimitz Highway. When traveling through this route, you will pass Ala Moana Shopping Center, the harbor and the city's industrial district. You can also hire a car, taxi, or travel by bus to reach Waikiki, located only 10 miles from the airport. Honolulu Downtown is 6 miles from the airport.

To reach Downtown Honolulu, you need to take the H-1 east route to either exit 22 or 23, which are Kinau Street and Punahou Street respectively. There are several twists and turns on the roads. Study the local landmarks to get the proper directions. Mauka means traveling towards north and Makai is traveling towards south. Two main streets in Honolulu are Beretania Street and King Street. Traffic situation is problematic in Honolulu with the rush hours being the worst. Local taxis charge $30-$40 from Waiki to airport.
